LAYERED SHADOW BOXES
Layered Shadow Boxes are a form of print and mounting display for photographs I have captured that add depth and superimposition of image elements by layering multiple prints inside a frame box. Elements (typically foreground) in the photograph are digitally isolated (masked) from the image as a layer. The elements are printed on a transparent medium and the complete, unaltered, photograph is also printed. The printed photograph and layers are aligned and mounted inside a custom made frame box in sequence according to their depth in the frame. The technique acts to pull elements from the background, emphasizing and isolating them, while also creating a shadow-like effect.
